The Banyans is fortunate to have a chef of Lara’s calibre on the culinary team. Lara was valedictorian when she achieved her pastry chef qualification in her home country of Germany. Now a chef for more than 12 years, Lara has previously worked in a luxury, five star hotel in Dubai and followed this with an Executive Chef role for an emerging international sugar-free coffee shop chain.
After seven years in the United Arab Emirates, Lara then moved to Brisbane where she initially worked as the Head Chef of a vegan and gluten free tapas restaurant. She joined The Banyans team at The Residence in March 2021 and will work closely with Clinical Nutritionist Lisa Cutforth at The Banyans’ first café, Wholesome & Bean, in Bowen Hills.
Lara found The Banyans’ focus on health and wellbeing very attractive. She is thankful for the warmth of its team members and of course, she adores the location. Lara believes The Residence emanates inspiration for those who are in recovery as well as providing a safe haven during that period. She believes it is an environment in which she can achieve personal as well as professional growth.
Lara enjoys creating healthy and delightful culinary experiences for The Banyans’ guests and for her colleagues. Working with premium ingredients and a dash of love goes a long way, she says.
When she is not researching new recipes, she also enjoys crystals, creating art, and exploring the world, particularly all of the natural beauty on offer in Queensland.
