As the Consultant Psychiatrist at The Banyans Health and Wellness, Dr Anja Kriegeskotten brings a vital element of medical support to The Banyans program. Dr Kriegeskotten has extensive experience in a range of therapeutic treatments, including a special interest in trauma.

Dr Kriegeskotten is also trained and certified to use the EAGALA model of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Dr Kriegeskotten is highly specialised in this mode of therapy, engaging in over 6,000 professional hours of treatment. Dr Kriegeskotten has been fascinated by horses all her life and is passionate about the way in which Equine Assisted Psychotherapy can support and assist guests to reach their wellness goals more effectively.

Working in psychiatry since 1997, Dr Kriegeskotten has worked across Australia in a wide variety of settings. Within Queensland Health, Dr Kriegeskotten worked in a specialised team treating traumatised children and adolescents in foster care, and in community mental health clinics in Queensland. In addition, Dr Kriegeskotten has conducted outreach to remote Indigenous communities and mining towns.

Dr Kriegeskotten is a registered Psychiatrist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registry, a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and an accredited EAGALA Equine Therapist.
