Depression can be quiet. It does not always announce itself. For many people, it builds gradually, in the background of a life that continues to move forward, until the weight of it becomes impossible to carry alone.
Seeking support is not a sign that something has gone wrong. It is a sign that something needs to change.
The Banyans is a private residential facility for mental health and depression rehabilitation, set in the Brisbane hinterland. Your program is built entirely around you. One-on-one sessions every day, shaped by your clinical history, your circumstances, and your goals. No group therapy. No shared schedules. For guests travelling from Sydney, private transfer is available, so that the journey itself is handled with the same care as everything that follows.
We understand that a one-size-fits-all approach to treating complex conditions is ineffective.
From your initial enquiry, our experienced team partners with you to create and continually refine a personalised treatment pathway supported by a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach for sustained recovery.

Do many guests travel from Sydney to The Banyans for depression treatment?
The Banyans welcomes guests from across Australia, including many from Sydney and New South Wales. Our reputation for one-on-one, clinically rigorous rehabilitation has made us a trusted choice for people seeking genuinely private and individualised care for depression and mental health issues. For guests travelling from Sydney, private transfer is available, including by private jet.
How is The Banyans different from a Sydney-based mental health retreat?
What sets The Banyans apart begins with where we are. Set in the quiet of the Brisbane hinterland, the facility offers something a city-based retreat cannot: genuine physical and psychological distance from the environment in which depression has taken hold. For many guests, that separation is not incidental. It is an essential part of why the program works.
Beyond the setting, the clinical model is entirely one-on-one, with no group therapy at any stage. The multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatry, psychology, dietetics, and exercise physiology, works collaboratively around a single guest at a time. Depression is approached from a biopsychosocial perspective, meaning medical, emotional, physical, and nutritional factors are all considered together. With a maximum of ten guests in residence and a program built entirely around your individual needs, the focus here is completely and solely on you.
How do I get to The Banyans from Sydney?
Private transfer from Sydney is available, making the journey to our Brisbane hinterland facility as seamless and discreet as possible. We can walk you through the available options during your initial conversation.
What happens to my care when I return to Sydney after the program?
Your care does not stop when you leave. Up to two years of structured aftercare support is available following any residential program, including continued sessions with your treating clinicians. Through The Banyans Health Plus day programs, telehealth support is also available, meaning the clinical foundation you build here can continue to support you once you are back in Sydney.
Can I stay connected with my Sydney-based GP or specialist during my program?
Yes. We work collaboratively with referring clinicians and welcome ongoing communication with your Sydney-based GP, psychiatrist, or psychologist throughout your program. Keeping your existing care team informed supports continuity and helps ensure the transition back to Sydney is as smooth as possible.
Is it worth travelling from Sydney for depression rehabilitation?
For many of our guests, the distance is not an obstacle. It is part of the decision. Stepping away from your everyday environment, the familiar pressures, routines, and surroundings of life in Sydney, creates the kind of space that supports genuine, focused recovery. The Brisbane hinterland setting offers privacy and seclusion that is difficult to replicate closer to home.
