Perth is one of the most geographically distinct cities in the world. For many residents of Western Australia, accessing truly private, clinically rigorous mental health care has meant travelling. The Banyans makes that journey worthwhile.
Set in the quiet of the Brisbane hinterland, The Banyans is a private residential mental health retreat offering something genuinely rare. Entirely one-on-one care, no group therapy at any stage, and a program built entirely around you. For guests travelling from Perth and across Western Australia, private transfer is available, so that the journey itself is handled with the same discretion as everything that follows.
We understand that a one-size-fits-all approach to treating complex conditions is ineffective.
From your initial enquiry, our experienced team partners with you to create and continually refine a personalised treatment pathway supported by a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach for sustained recovery.

Do many guests travel from Perth and Western Australia to The Banyans?
The Banyans welcomes guests from across Australia, including many from Perth and Western Australia. For residents of WA seeking truly private, one-on-one residential mental health care, The Banyans offers a level of clinical depth and discretion that is difficult to find closer to home. Private transfer from Perth is available, including by private jet where preferred.
How is The Banyans different from a Perth-based rehabilitation facility?
What sets The Banyans apart begins with where we are. Set in the quiet of the Brisbane hinterland, the facility offers genuine physical and psychological distance from the environment in which symptoms have developed. For many guests from Western Australia, that separation is not incidental. It is an essential part of why the program works.
Beyond the setting, the clinical model is entirely one-on-one, with no group therapy at any stage. The multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatry, psychology, dietetics, and exercise physiology, works collaboratively around a single guest at a time. With a maximum of ten guests in residence and a program built entirely around your individual needs, the focus here is completely and solely on you.
How do I get to The Banyans from Perth?
Private transfer from Perth is available, including by private jet, making the journey to our Brisbane hinterland facility as seamless and discreet as possible. We can walk you through the available options during your initial conversation.
Is a mental health retreat in Western Australia available through The Banyans?
The Banyans does not operate a Perth or WA-based facility. The residential program is located in the Brisbane hinterland, Queensland, a setting chosen for its privacy, seclusion, and the clinical benefit of genuine separation from everyday life. For Perth and WA-based guests, we can arrange private transfer as part of the admissions process at an additional cost. For those who require clinical support without travelling, telehealth options through The Banyans Health Plus day programs may be a suitable pathway.
What does a residential mental health program at The Banyans involve?
Programs at The Banyans are built on a biopsychosocial framework, meaning your care is approached from a medical, emotional, physical, and nutritional perspective simultaneously. The full multidisciplinary team includes psychiatry, psychology, and medical support, dietetics, and exercise physiology. All therapy is one-on-one. The specific program developed for you will reflect your clinical history, your needs, and your goals.
Can I stay connected with my Perth-based GP or specialist during my program?
Yes. We work collaboratively with referring clinicians and welcome ongoing communication with your Perth-based or Western Australia-based GP, psychiatrist, or psychologist throughout your program. Keeping your existing care team informed supports continuity and helps ensure the transition back to Western Australia is as smooth as possible.
Can a family member or GP make an enquiry on someone’s behalf?
Yes. Enquiries from family members, partners, and healthcare professionals are always welcomed. We can provide information about program suitability, the admissions process, and what to expect, all in confidence. For GP and specialist referrals, we can coordinate directly with the referring clinician.
How do I know if The Banyans is the right choice for me?
The first step is a confidential conversation with our team. There is no obligation involved. We will take time to understand your situation and help you determine whether our program is the right fit. If you are based in Perth or Western Australia and have been referred by a GP or specialist, we can also liaise directly with your clinician to make the process as straightforward as possible.
