Watching someone you care about struggle, and not knowing what to do, is one of the harder things a person can carry. You may have tried to help before. You may be unsure whether what you’re seeing is serious enough to act on. You may not know where to start. That uncertainty is normal. And it doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance to help.
The Banyans works with partners, adult children, close friends, colleagues and families who are trying to find the right path forward for someone they love. Our team can talk through what you’re observing, explain what residential and day program options exist, and help you understand whether The Banyans may be the right fit, all in confidence and without pressure.
The Banyans is a private residential facility in the Brisbane hinterland. Treatment is delivered entirely one-on-one so there are no group sessions, no shared therapy, and no loss of privacy for the person you’re trying to help.
Programs are built around the individual. With a 14:1 clinician-to-guest ratio, a dedicated multidisciplinary team – including psychiatry, psychology, dietetics, and exercise physiology – works with each person to address what’s actually driving their presentation, not just the surface symptoms.
For loved ones, that means a few things:
This is not a short-term fix. The Banyans is designed for people who want excellent, structured clinical support, and for the people around them who want to make sure they get it.
There’s no clear threshold. That’s what makes this so hard.
The person you’re concerned about may still be functioning, holding down a job, maintaining relationships on the surface, presenting well to the outside world. High-functioning presentations are common, and they can make it easy to second-guess what you’re seeing.
Some signs that professional support may be needed:
You don’t need a diagnosis and you don’t need certainty. If you’re asking the question, it’s usually worth a conversation.
Our intake team can help you assess whether what you’re observing might warrant a residential or day program, and talk through what that process would look like. The call is confidential.
The first call is a conversation, not an assessment. Here is what the process looks like from that first contact through to treatment and beyond.
The goal is to give you clarity on what’s possible, so you can make an informed decision about the next step, at a pace that feels right for you and the person you care about.
Treatment at The Banyans doesn’t end at discharge. Two elements of the wrap-around care model are designed specifically for what comes next.

For some people, a residential program is the starting point. The Banyans Health Plus day programs offer a structured step-down option – one-on-one, intensive outpatient care delivered in Brisbane, for people transitioning back to daily life while maintaining clinical support.

Up to two years of aftercare support is included as part of every residential program. Regular telehealth sessions with the clinical team help sustain progress made during treatment and provide ongoing guidance as circumstances change.
If you're not ready to call, the enquiry form is a private way to start the conversation. The intake team will respond promptly and discreetly.
