Dr Leanne Barron is a General Practitioner with a special interest in Eating Disorders. Her role at The Banyans Health and Wellness is to partner with guests experiencing complex eating concerns and disorders to ensure the safest medically supported recovery journey.
Dr Barron’s medical experience is diverse and includes treating malnutrition, allergy, adult emergency medicine, and general practice.
As the Queensland GP representative for the state-wide Eating Disorder Advisory Group, Dr Barron is committed to educating patients, families, other professionals, and the public. She regularly presents for the Eating Disorders Association Queensland, and has presented research papers at ANZAED conferences since 2013.
She has a professional passion for understanding the biochemistry, genetics and microbiology of the human biome. Dr Barron believes that helping individuals and their families to understand medical aspects of their condition is an important part of keeping them medically safe and optimising their recovery.
Along with providing treatment at The Banyans Residence and The Banyans Health Plus, Dr Barron is also available for outpatient consultations at The Banyans Medical Centre in Bowen Hills.
Dr Leanne Barron is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) and the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED). She is a registered practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
